antique gilt walnut armchair by C Hindley & sons
antique gilt walnut armchair by C Hindley & sons
1632
A fine quality mid 19th century gilt walnut armchair by Hindley & sons - Miles & Edwards c1844. In good structural condition throughout. The gilt showing signs of wear but in my opinion very attractively. Raised on nicely turned front legs on original brass cup castors with the back castors rebated into the leg which is typical of Hindley & sons. The names of both Hindley & sons and Miles & Edwards 134 oxford street London are stamped on the underside of the frame. In 1844 Hindley took over Miles & Edwards and in 1845 Miles & Edwards closed.
