Antique pine drawers with faux Birdseye maple grain
Antique pine drawers with faux Birdseye maple grain
1882
This chest of drawers in particular is exceptional, the condition to the faux birdseye maple paint is all but perfect to say it has been on the pine for well in excess of 150 plus years. We estimate this chest of drawers to be c1850-1870. The grained finish is such a sight to behold and is definitely something of a statement piece.
All the drawers run smooth and all have working locks complete with key. (The key is a newer addition) The second knob down on the left has a bit of the back plate missing but is quite well hidden as it's on the underside. (Visible in the photographs)
The paint is in exceptional condition with only a minor mark here or there. The top which you would expect to get the most wear is also almost flawless. Every panel has been boarded off with a fine black pin strip which adds a little depth and the top two drawers and top centre have been finished with a nice delicate pattern.
You would need to search very hard to find a chest of drawers like this that is in such good condition
