A special pair of well drawn armchairs by Johnstone and Jeanes bearing the Royal VR 'Victoria Regina' stamp.  Raised on turned walnut front legs with out splayed legs to the rear and all with the original large Cope & Collinson brass casters. Each chair stamped Johnstone & Jeanes, New Bond St London and both brander VR

Johnstone & Jeanes are known for their 'good and substantial manufacture’ as noted in the Art Journal's illustrated catalogue for the 1862 International Exhibition

By repute - the chairs were commissioned for Kensington palace. The previous owners farther had them given as a gift. I have no official documentation as proof of this claim.

Both chairs in very good condition but would benefit from upholstery as it is tired.

As with all my upholstered seating I do offer upholstery so please get in touch to find out more.

75cm wide
100cm deep
