A quality matched pair of 19th century open armchairs by Miles & Edwards. Constructed from nicely figured solid rosewood and raise on barley twist legs and show frame with the original brass casters. Structurally in solid order.

Henry Miles and John Edwards history.
The firm of Miles & Edwards were quality furniture makers and upholsterers. They began operation in 1822 at 134 Oxford Street, Westminster, London. Their clients included the British ambassador to Paris and the Empress of Russia. They also sold fabrics and accessories for upholstery and curtains. Charles Hindley & Sons bought out Miles & Edwards in 1844.
