Early Victorian walnut and leather armchair 1843

An early Victorian walnut and leather armchair. The chair seat lifts up from the back and hinges forward at the front, the back also reclines slightly. I must admit I'm not too sure why the chair functions this way and could be some sort of fix to a medical problem but that's just a guess. It is however a very attractive chair and functions perfectly well as a regular armchair.

The leather is in worn condition and dry in places and some of the buttons have been replaced on the seat.

There is a stamped Dimond registration mark which has helped date this to 8th February 1843
