19th century vernacular Sheffield cutlers stool
19th century vernacular Sheffield cutlers stool
1163
A wonderful and rare 19th century ash and elm cutlers stool with hand turned ribbed legs making this stool specific to Sheffield area. What makes this stool rather unusual is that it appears to have a period modification and fitted with a pine back support. I have had a couple of these stools in the past and have never seen one with this design. A nice attractive tone and wear throughout with no signs of repair.
