Traditionally foo dogs or lion dogs were the guardians of temples and tombs and were there to warn off evil spirits. Early examples date back 1000's of years and were typically carved in stone.
This example is made from ceramic and is coated in a vibrant mix of yellow's and green's and dates to the last quarter of the 20th century.
Excellent condition with no chips or scratches and a decent size at 55cm high.
